Twitter Says Hackers Accessed Private Messages From 36 Accounts

Twitter said hackers had access to private messages from 36 accounts on their social network after episodes of simultaneous attacks last week. Among the victims is the profile of a Dutch public official . The identities of those affected were not disclosed.

New information about the case was announced Wednesday night in the social media support profile ( @TwitterSupport ). According to Twitter, hackers may have accessed private messages from up to 36 of the 130 accounts during the intrusions of the past few days.

“We believe that in up to 36 of the 130 accounts chosen, attackers accessed the direct message (DM) inbox, including a public authority in the Netherlands. Until now, we have no indication that their messages have been accessed by any other authority, current or former, ”they say.

The scam on Twitter amounts to 247 thousand euros in bitcoins

130 accounts were attacked by hackers. On Saturday, July 18, Twitter said that the attackers downloaded data from eight accounts using the “Your Twitter data” tool . According to Coinbase, the shipment of 247,800 euros in bitcoins was blocked during the attacks. The FBI plans to investigate the case.
